Description
Pulpdent ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE-RESTORATIVE™ is the world's first bioactive composite — a dual-cured, fluoride-releasing, calcium-/phosphate-releasing restorative that chemically integrates with tooth structure. ACTIVA reacts to oral pH changes, releases ions that stimulate apatite (hydroxyapatite) formation at the restoration-tooth interface, and recharges from saliva and topical fluoride — providing long-term seal, secondary caries protection, and tooth-strengthening biomimicry that conventional composites can't.
If You Currently Use…
Conventional composites like 3M Filtek Supreme Ultra®, Kerr Herculite XRV Ultra®, or GC Beautifil II — ACTIVA is the next-generation bioactive alternative that combines composite handling with glass ionomer bioactivity. The closest functional competitor is GC Equia Forte HT or Riva Self-Cure (SDI), but ACTIVA pairs glass ionomer chemistry with the polishability and wear of resin composite.
Key Features
- Bioactive (ionic release) — calcium, phosphate, and fluoride ions released into the restoration-tooth interface
- Apatite-forming — promotes hydroxyapatite mineralization at the margin
- Fluoride recharge — recharges from topical fluoride, saliva
- Dual-cure — light-cure or self-cure (deep bulk-fill capable)
- Resin matrix with ionic glass — composite handling + glass ionomer chemistry
- Moisture-friendly — bonds reliably even in challenging isolation
- 5 mL / 8 g automix syringes with 20 mix tips per refill
- Self-adhesive (no separate bonding step required, though etch + bond recommended for enamel)
Indications
- Class I, II, III, IV, and V direct restorations
- Pediatric restorations (primary and permanent teeth)
- Core build-ups
- Hypersensitive cervical lesions
- Restoration in patients at high caries risk
- Liner and base under amalgam or composite
Pack Sizes
- Single Refill — 1 × 5 mL / 8 g automix syringe + 20 mix tips
- Value Refill — 2 × 5 mL / 8 g automix syringes + 40 mix tips (best per-mL price)
How To Use
- Prepare the cavity using standard restorative protocols
- Etch enamel margins with 37% phosphoric acid (15 sec) for optimal enamel seal; rinse
- Apply a universal bonding agent if desired (recommended for enamel margins); light-cure 10 sec
- Attach mix tip to ACTIVA syringe, express into the cavity directly from the tip
- Place in increments ≤ 4 mm for light-cure (or bulk-fill up to 5 mm using dual-cure mode)
- Light-cure each increment for 20 sec (1000 mW/cm² LED)
- Contour, finish, and polish — ACTIVA polishes to a high luster like composite
