Description
Pulpdent SNOOP™ Caries Detecting Dye is a propylene glycol–based blue dye that selectively stains infected, demineralized dentin while leaving sound dentin unstained. This makes it an indispensable chairside tool for conservative caries removal — letting clinicians distinguish caries-affected dentin (stainable, infected) from caries-affected but remineralizable dentin (unstained), preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
If You Currently Use…
Kuraray Caries Detector, Ultradent Seek®, or Cavity Detector from Vista — SNOOP is the direct equivalent caries detecting dye at a lower cost per bottle.
Key Features
- Propylene glycol carrier — gentler on pulpal tissue than ethylene-glycol formulas
- Dark blue dye — high visual contrast against tooth structure
- Selective staining — marks infected dentin only, spares sound dentin
- 12 mL bottle — hundreds of chairside applications
- Drop-dispense bottle for precise placement
Indications
- Conservative caries removal (minimally-invasive dentistry)
- Differentiating infected from affected dentin during cavity preparation
- Verifying complete excavation of carious dentin before restoration
How To Use
- Excavate gross caries with a slow-speed round bur
- Apply 1–2 drops of SNOOP to the prepared cavity using a cotton pellet or applicator
- Leave in place for 10 seconds
- Rinse thoroughly with water spray
- Stained (dark blue) dentin = infected — remove with hand instrument or slow-speed bur
- Unstained dentin = sound — preserve, do not excavate
- Repeat if needed until no further staining occurs
- Restore the cavity as normal
