Description
The NIC O File is a rotary nickel-titanium retreatment file system designed to safely and efficiently remove root-canal filling materials — gutta-percha, sealer, and resilon — during endodontic retreatment. The aggressive active tip and steep taper make short work of obturation removal, while the rigid original-NiTi composition delivers the cutting power needed to penetrate set filling materials.
If You Currently Use…
ProTaper Universal Retreatment® (Dentsply Sirona — D1/D2/D3) — the NIC O File is the direct equivalent. Same D1/D2/D3 sequencing concept, same coronal-to-apical retreatment workflow, at a fraction of the cost.
Key Features
- Retreatment-specific design — engineered to remove gutta-percha, sealer, and resilon
- Original NiTi composition — rigidity preserved for high cutting efficiency on set filling materials
- Steep variable tapers — D1/.09, D2/.08, D3/.07
- Three working depths — D1 (16 mm) coronal, D2 (18 mm) middle, D3 (22 mm) apical
- Active cutting tip for fast initial penetration
- Autoclavable at 121 °C / 15 min or 134 °C / 3–5 min
- 6 files per pack
How To Use
- Remove restoration and access the root canal as for primary endo
- Use D1 (16 mm, .09) to remove filling material from the coronal third
- Step to D2 (18 mm, .08) for the middle third
- Finish with D3 (22 mm, .07) to working length / apical third
- Verify patency with SS K-File #10–#15 between steps
- Re-shape with rotary system of choice (NIC U+, X+, or KV Blue)
