EBIKO autoclave tape (also called sterilization tape or indicator tape) has diagonal indicator stripes and is used to close and label wrapped instrument packs and cassettes. What is on the roll

Frequently asked questions
What does autoclave tape indicate?
It shows that a pack has been through an autoclave cycle: the stripes change colour when they are exposed to the process. It does not prove that the contents are sterile.
How do you use autoclave tape?
Use a strip to close each wrapped pack or cassette, and write the date or load details on it if your procedure asks for them. After the cycle, check that the stripes have changed colour before you store the pack.
What sizes does autoclave tape come in?
This listing has three widths: 1/2 in, 3/4 in and 1 in (about 13, 19 and 25 mm), sold one roll at a time.
Can I use masking tape instead of autoclave tape?
No. Masking tape has no indicator stripes, so it cannot show that a pack went through a cycle.
Do I still need an indicator inside the pack?
Usually, yes. Tape only shows that the outside of the pack was exposed to the process. Many monitoring programmes also place an internal chemical indicator, such as our Class 5 indicator strips, in each pack and run regular spore tests with biological indicators. Follow your setting's procedure.
Do you ship autoclave tape across Canada?
Yes. EBIKO ships from our Ontario warehouse to clinics across Canada, priced in Canadian dollars.
