Frequently asked questions
What is a Level 3 mask?
A Level 3 mask is a medical face mask that meets Level 3, the third of three barrier levels in ASTM F2100, the standard named on these boxes. ASTM F2100 sorts medical face masks into Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 using lab tests that include filtration, breathability and fluid resistance. A Level 3 mask is tested for fluid resistance at a higher pressure than Levels 1 and 2, and many clinics choose it for procedures with heavy spray or splatter.
What is the difference between Level 2 and Level 3 masks?
The main difference is fluid resistance: Level 3 masks are tested against synthetic blood at a higher pressure than Level 2 masks. In ASTM F2100 the minimum filtration requirements are the same for both levels. Choose the level your clinic's risk assessment calls for. On this page both levels cost C$6.99 per box of 50.
Is a Level 3 mask the same as an N95?
No. A surgical mask and an N95 respirator are different products. An N95 is a respirator that must seal tightly to the face and is certified to filter airborne particles. An ear-loop surgical mask fits loosely and is mainly a barrier against splashes, spray and droplets. ASTM levels rate surgical masks; they do not make a mask a respirator.
Are these masks good for sensitive skin?
We cannot promise that. We do not make a sensitive-skin or hypoallergenic claim for these masks. If masks irritate your skin, order one box and try it before buying more.
Is each box one colour?
Yes. Each box holds 50 masks of one level and one colour. All six colours come in both Level 2 and Level 3.
Do you ship Level 3 masks across Canada?
Yes. EBIKO ships from our Ontario warehouse to clinics across Canada, and prices are in Canadian dollars.
